Secondary breast implant surgery aims to restore a breast to near normal shape, appearance and size following problems occuring after previous implant surgery. Cases can include capsular contracture, when the collagen-fiber capsule that normally forms around an implant tightens and squeezes the breast implant and/or when an implant fails (leaks or ruptures).
More details on surgical reconstruction of the breasts can be found here.
This patient had bilateral severe capsular contracture and breast implant failure. She had implant removal with capsulectomy and implant replacement with mastopexy.
